Road Pavement Maintenance

Facol Limited has in operation eighteen (18) teams engaged in road maintenance at various parts of the country. They undertake pothole patching, resealing works and sectional repairs of both asphalted and surface dressed roads.

Each maintenance team has a tipper truck, a compressor, a compactor and a bitumen sprayer. The company prepares its own material at two central locations in Accra and Kumasi for supplies to the various pothole patching locations.

Plans are well laid to increase the equipment holding since this is the area of great development potential for the company.
The company has well trained staff at it’s workshop as well as engaging out of company specialists to assist in the pre-emptive repairs and maintenance of its equipment, this is to forestall on the job break down of these equipment.
Chippings are purchased from reputable quarries in the country for the premix preparation and road sealing works as well as tack coast purposes.
In respect of asphaltic road maintenance the company has been purchasing the hot asphalt from reputable manufacturers. The Company has a 40-tons hour asphalt plant which is yet to be installed:-

FACOL LIMITED in partnership with Messrs ELSAMEX INTERNATIONAL of Spain and Messrs ENH of Denmark has also introduced a new road construction and maintenance process of slurry sealing and micro surfacing in April 2008, the first of its kind in Ghana.

This new technology has been used for resurfacing of the Tamale Airport with excellent result.

The technology can also be used for the sealing of cracks on asphalt roads to increase longevity of such roads.
